November 16 2009

We are having some interesting weather here on the west coast. I guess the wet coast is living up to its name. I do prefer the rain to fall than having the snow fall.

Right now on Drive BC the warning 1. Flooding form Gold River to Buttle Narrows (@128pm) warning 2. Wash out 15km west of Gold River to 25 km west of Buttle Narrows Bridge. The road is reduced to single lane alternating traffic. (Nov 16 @ 129)
The Weather Network warnings:
1. Rain fall warning: an additional rainfall of 30-70 mm by Tuesday morning. This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected or occurring in these regions (inland Vancouver island). A slow moving pacific Frontal System over the south coast of BC will continue to bring rain at times heavy of the area today and tonight. Additional Rainfall amounts of 30-70 mm can be expected by Tuesday morning with the highest amounts over the Howe sound and near the North shore mountains. However strong southerly winds will redevelop over night expecting to ease by Tuesday morning.
2. Wind Warning: inland Vancouver island
Southwesterly winds of 50-70 km/h will develop over night. This is a warning that potentially damaging winds are expected or occurring in these regions.

Well I have a flight tomorrow morning from Gold River to Zeballos. With return later in the day. Today's flights were canceled lets see if tomorrow we fly. If the rain does come we might need to build an ark and just float over there. Mind you if the wind is high we might not make it even in a boat. Thankfully the pilots we have are good about checking the weather and if the wind is above about 20 they don't fly.

Nov. 5 2009

Well I have not been able to get any good pictures lately. But the mountains around here are very snowy on top. It is currently very wet and miserable as it is raining hard out today, so bad the ground is having trouble soaking it all up. Right now with the flu season upon us at work we have been very, very busy giving flu shots and trying to keep up with the demand. We keep running out of the seasonal flu vaccine so people please be patient with us we are doing the best we can.

I will post more pictures once I have some to post.
